FUNCTIONAL YOGA

FUNCTIONAL YOGA is based on the scientifically-proven premise that our skeletons, tissues, physiology, temperament, and motivation are made and organized in a way that is uniquely ours. This uniqueness comes with the whole package of talents and limitations that constitute who we are.

Functional yoga classes are a combination of YIN and intuitive YANG yoga. With Yin, we perform long stretches, while we focus on meditation. We will target deep connective tissues, like fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. With Yang yoga, we practice Vinyasa, which will target the muscles and increase blood flow. We always finish the practice with a nice relaxation, a moment of awareness and gratitude.

Classes are shared online in real-time and/or uploaded in the PBM MEMBER area on Facebook, where you can find more than 30 Yin Yang Yoga classes(in Dutch), which gives you the possibility to practice to your needs, any time, at any place.

All Yoga classes will recharge the central nervous system, which will connect the mental,- with the physical body. From there we will use our breath, intentions, energy, and intuition to deeply ground us. You will always be guided with very clear demonstrations and precisely articulated verbal adjustments.

WHAT PROPS DO YOU NEED:

  • Yoga mat
  • 2 blocks (or thick books or Tupperware of the same size)
  • 1 yoga strap (or long strong scarf)
  • 1 blanket
  • Pillow

WHEN SETTING UP FOR A ZOOM YOGA CLASS:

  • Check that your mat is placed at least 10 feet away from your laptop or phone and broadwise to the camera in a way that your full body and your full mat are visible.
  • Check that your lighting is good.
  • Before each class, please check your camera, audio, and lighting by creating a meeting with yourself and making any changes needed.

Please practice in a way that is nourishing for your body, mind, and soul. Listen to your body. Take a pause and rest whenever you need to. If you have any injuries or health concerns please discuss your condition with me before class so I can guide you on how to modify postures.
